Overall life update 09/07/20

Hey everyone, I know it's been awhile since the last post.  Been busy with other projects.  This blog doesn't get as much traffic as the YT channels or the podcast, so those generally take priority time-wise.  But sometimes it's easier to just write, instead of editing audio and video and going through that effort.

It's been two years since the divorce was finalized, alimony payments are finished.  It's amazing how much easier it is to budget and save when you don't have a church demanding 10% of your gross income, so even with alimony I've been able to put over $10K into stocks and index funds over the past few years.

I regret not starting to invest at a much younger age, but better late than never.  Stocks won't make you rich, but they do provide leverage to help grow what wealth you already have.  Of course there's risk involved, but I can tolerate quite a bit of risk given how much time I still have to invest.

Christi and I will soon be celebrating two years since we started dating, and it's life changing how good a relationship can be when both people want to make it work.  We've had some great times traveling together, or just sitting at home watching Community, Fargo, Lucifer, The Expanse, or whatever the current favorite might be.

I mentioned the podcast and YT channels, let me just post some links below, in case anyone reading this hasn't checked those out:

Podcast:  https://isaaccoverstone.podbean.com/

Tech Tips:  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCidQbRHCaIt3mLN3AoZfPrQ

Personal channel:  https://www.youtube.com/user/slayer1am/

I'm also the moderator of an Ex-UPC Facebook group, some great people there, be sure to join and contribute:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/2272482606312924

There's a thriving subreddit for ex-Pentecostals as well, almost 2,000 people sharing their experiences and how good it feels to be free of that mess:

So far, Siemens is treating me fairly well, I've been able to obtain a few different certifications to bolster my resume, and the 6% matching 401K is nice.  I hope to stay at least until I get my 5 years in and become fully vested.

Anyway, leave a comment on this post or on any of the other sites if you want details or if you want to catch up.  Peace.
